Two Polish Free Optical Connection Systems
Fibre is terminated by an epoxy fix in a ferrule and then the end face
polished until the desired shape (normally spherical), fibre
protrusion (or undercut) and surface finish (scratch free) is
achieved. This is time consuming and very much more difficult in the
field. BBN International supplies a range of termination solutions
including the industry standard Seikoh Giken polishing machines,
Fujikura splicing machines and 2 new pre-polished connector systems.

A proven 'Mechanical Splice' technique in each connector ensures
reliable and quick connections wherever you are.!
- Field installable high reliability connector
- Requires no polishing
- No cumbersome assembly tools
- Fast and easy operation
- Universal for 250 or 900um coated fibre
- Fully compatible with standard connectors / adapters

The Fujikura FAST Series connectors have a fibre connectorisation time
of less than 30 seconds, including preparation. Apart from the
standard fibre preparation tools, no other specialised tools are
required in conjunction with the connector. The product has been
factory-polished, eliminating the need for any polishing materials,
thereby enabling the preparation and termination of two optical fibres
in a fraction of the time of other conventional methods. |
 |
|
The connector uses V-groove mechanical splice principals and therefore
the use of epoxies is not required. The average insertion loss for
singlemode is 0.2 dB, with a return loss of 55 dB, whilst for
multimode GI62.5, the average insertion loss is 0.03 dB (0.07 dB for
multimode GI50.0).
Using the onsite assembly optical connector, it is possible to
improve the flexibility of optical wiring design as well as reducing
the time required for wiring work. The FAST-SC connector is becoming
popular as a connector for optical wiring inside buildings and floors,
and with the expansion of FTTH, it is expected that demand will
continue to increase in the future.

The innovative splice-on-connector termination system allows for
unsurpassed performance and flexibility in the field.
These specially designed splice-on-connectors eliminate the need
for field polishing and significantly improve the quality of
terminations and installation times required. |

|
Seikoh Giken's factory-polished ferrules with pre-cleaved fibre stubs
are spliced onto the field fibre utilizing FITEL's proprietary ferrule
holder and fusion splicer. Once spliced, either an SC/APC, SC/UPC, FC/APC,
or FC/UPC connector is easily assembled using a process requiring
minimal training.
This connector termination system is compatible with FITEL's S122A
and S177A fusion splicing machines. |
