New Products To Maximise Data Capacity

BBN International announces new solutions for increasing data capacity on optical fibre transmission systems. Using phase shift modulation to improve signal quality and performance for high data rate systems, differential quadrature phase modulation to double the data rate for a given transmission speed and optical interleaving to double channel counts in DWDM systems, existing and new optical links can be used for far greater data rates.
 

DPSK Demodulator

For phase modulated optical communication systems, the delay line interferometer converts phase modulation to amplitude modulation.

For 2.5, 10, 20 or 40Gbps commercial DPSK signal reception.

This free-space micro-optics device demodulates coherent signals in either homodyne or heterodyne detection.

6-Port Optical Hybrid and coherent receiver

QPSK Mixer

This polarisation diversified optical hybrid mixes an incoming signal with a local oscillator.

Optical (De-)Interleaver

Using a step-phase interferometer DWDM channels are combined to double the capacity.

The current standard optical interleaver product family supports 100-200, 50-100, 25-50, and 12.5-25 GHz channel spacing, covering up to 90, 180, 360, and 720 channels, respectively, as well as other custom spacings in that range, such as 33.33-66.66 GHz.

Dual stage and asymmetric interleavers are also available.
