Advanced Fused Fibre Devices
27 June 2007
Regular fused fibre device performance is affected by the environment
in various ways - so much so that these effects are exploited in some
sensors to measure vibration (sound), temperature, pressure etc. Of
course, in optical communications systems these effects are
undesirable and great care has to be taken in manufacture, packaging and mounting
to avoid problems. Using advanced fusing techniques, Comcore has
developed fused fibre devices that exhibit ultra-high reliability,
novel designs and very high, consistent performance. |

BBN International announces the Comcore range of advanced fused
fibre couplers including:
SM, MM, PM, hybrid and plastic (POF) fibres
Ultra-high reliability
High temperature
Ultra-low tap ratios ~0.001%
Very low excess loss ~0.02dB
Very tight channel spacing WDMs ~70nm.
Tree and star NxM couplers up to 16 x16
Meet the most demanding standards Telcordia 1221.
Employing Superfusion™, Unifusion™ and Microbend™ techniques on
precision custom designed, automated fusion machines, Comcore produce
some of the highest specification fused fibre devices in the World.
Applications include PON, EDFAs, submarine, fibre lasers and
general telecommunications.
