Get PoE Using Existing Equipment
19 December 2007
Many network installations already have recently purchased high
performance switches in place but they lack Power over Ethernet (PoE).
New PoE network devices offer great opportunities for easy
installation of new users, add-ons and peripherals without costly,
time consuming and messy additional power wiring (and separate power
blocks).

A new family of PoE injectors allows existing switches to be
retained and all the functionality of fully managed PoE to be provided
along existing CAT-5 wiring.
With the following functional modules available most installations
can be easily upgraded to PoE:
- 24 Port Managed PoE Injector
- 1 Port
- PoE Splitter (for supplying power to non-PoE devices)
- Managed Power Supply
Features of the PoE injectors include:
- 15.4W per port
- In-built UPS functionality (from external 48V battery/PSU)
- 10/100 TX switch compatible
- Fully managed (CLI/Web/SNMP)
- RS232 agent for UPS(UPWM) monitoring and control
- PoE Splitter has selectable output voltage
- Supports 802.3af and Pre-Standard PD (Cisco legacy PD)
