MICROSENS has enhanced its 100G Product lines with the pluggable version of the 100G Transponder and 100G Muxponder.

Adding to the 1RU solution available since 2012, these new versions are compatible with MICROSENS chassis already installed in the field. This offers much more flexibility for new or greenfield network deployments or upgrades of existing MICROSENS systems.

The total capacity of the MSP3700 chassis can be tripled by moving from 10G to 100G products.

These new 100G modules are managed like any other module in an MICROSENS chassis, without need for additional power supply or management interface.

MICROSENS is leading the industry with a true coherent 100G access unit to address the increasing bandwidth demand seen in today’s metro and access markets. The growth in the number of data centers located in metro networks combined with the growth of high speed Ethernet business services is causing unprecedented demand for access capacity and putting pressure on metro networks to deliver. MICROSENS designed the 100G Metro Access Transponder specifically for the access market so they deliver maximum performance at low cost for higher and faster ROI. The modules all use pluggable client optics for easy interconnection to customer equipment and tunable line optics supporting all 88 DWDM channels so they can carry up to 8.8 Tbps on a single fiber without compromising performance. The modules are very compact delivering 2x100G units in only 2RU and highly power efficient at just over 1W per gigabit of transport bandwidth. 10G LAN WAN Protocol Converter Rack Module

The MICROSENS Protocol Converter allows service providers to use their existing OC-192/STM-64 networks for the transport of 10 Gigabit Ethernet. For carriers and their customers, this eliminates the need for expensive 10G WAN interface on their router.

The Protocol Converter is a two slot module that fits in both of MICROSENS chassis. It is a cost-effective solution for connecting 10 Gigabit LAN switches to OC-192/STM-64 SONET/SDH and DWDM networks by converting between 10G LAN PHY to 10G WAN PHY.

The 10GbE LAN payload from the access port is mapped into an OC-192/STM-64 framing format and is transported from the line port at wire speed. The module incorporates a flow control mechanism and if the LAN traffic exceeds the capacity of the OC-192/STM-64 link, it will generate MAC pause frames to the source device.

This module can also drop frames coming through its ingress client port in order to match the data rate of the 10G WAN egress port.

As operators require additional, and more varied, 10GbE-based services to be handled by their existing and growing OTN backbone, efficient ingress and egress become mandatory.

An OTN transponder is the most straightforward, cost-effective answer for delivering Ethernet encapsulation inside OTN lines for backbone interconnection.

The MS430553M Transponder makes it possible to use MICROSENS at the OTN line side as a client of OTN backbones. A single transponder allows economical adaptation of up to 10GbE clients to/from six independent OTU2(e) lines in a compact 2 slot module compatible with existing compact 2RU or 7RU MSP3000 chassis.

The MS430553M can also be used as a triple OTN regenerator of OTU2(e) lines.

The MICROSENS 10G transport modules are part of the MSP 3000 Platform and are used as OC-192/STM-64/10GbE/10GFC/OTU2 signal regenerators or as metro, regional, or long haul DWDM transponders.

The MS430567M supports OC-192/STM-64 and 10 GbE LAN on the client side and a proprietary bit rate on the line side (11.09 with 10dB FEC). The MS430550M supports all 10G protocols from 9.95 Gbps to 10.709 Gbps, including 10GbE LAN PHY, WAN PHY, 10GFC, OTU2 and OC-192/STM-64.

Combined with MICROSENS optical booster and pre-amplifier, when using the MS430567M, selected optics achieve link distances (with full channel counts) of up to 300 km without in-line amplifiers and more than 2000 km with in-line amplifiers.

The MS430558M is designed to provide high-speed connectivity to support business applications for enterprises. With requirements for server virtualization, business continuance, disaster recovery and real-time access to off-site data and applications, the requirements for high-speed connectivity across the WAN are greater than ever. Storage requirements continue to grow by orders of magnitude from Terabytes to Petabytes to Exabytes to Zettabytes and the need for increasingly high speeds to move data in native block format is driving the need for more than existing 8G Fibre Channel.

The MS430558M can provide up to four 8/10/16G Fibre Channel or 10GBE interfaces — twice the standard rate — in a single slot and up to 80 interfaces in a single 7RU chassis to meet almost any demand.

The MS430558M operates without Forward Error Correction (FEC) to provide the low latency required to move large data blocks within a campus or metro environment. By converting the incoming client signal to DWDM, the MS430558M allows multiple services to ride over the same optical network for optimal fiber utilization.

Multi-Rate 100M..2.7GB 3R Transponder Rack Module

The Transponder supports any transport protocol including Ethernet, SONET, SDH, or Storage on any of its ports. It can be used as a WDM transponder or as a repeater and regenerator. In a typical WDM transponder application it is configured with a short reach SFP on the client port and a CWDM/DWDM SFP on the line port. Plugged with 2 long haul WDM SFPs, the module can be used in regeneration sites of long haul networks. 

The module supports any SFP type and can reach distances of 100km and beyond with 1550 nm or DWDM wavelength. Combined with MICROSENS optical booster and pre-amplifier, SFP optics can achieve link distances of up to 250km and up to 700 km with in-line amplifiers. Digital Diagnostics Management (DDM) is supported for both SFP interfaces.

Quadruple 100MB..4G Transponder

The module has eight SFP ports that provide the highest port density on a single card. The eight ports of the Transponder are split to four pairs of access and line ports creating four WDM transponders on one card. By plugging an access SFP and a CWDM or DWDM SFP, each module can deliver four WDM channels. Up to six modules can be installed in a MS430501/3M chassis providing 24 wavelengths in a 2U shelf. 

All ports of the module support any protocol from 100 Mb to 4 Gbps including Fast and Gigabit Ethernet, OC-3/12/48, STM-1/4/16, GBE, 1/2/4G Fibre Channel. It is an ideal for sub 10G applications that require transport of multiple OC-48 and GBE traffic. The Transponder is most commonly used as CWDM or DWDM transponder. It can also be used as a repeater in long haul networks. The module supports any SFP type and can reach distances of 100 km and beyond with 1550 nm or DWDM wavelength. Combined with MICROSENS amplifiers, SFP optics can have extended reach.
