Microsens Modular Access System

2 Port Fast Ethernet Media Converter Rack Module

2 Port Fast Ethernet Media Converter Rack Module

The MICROSENS Fast Ethernet Media Converter Module enables the direct coupling of twisted pair (100Base-TX) and fiber optical segments (100Base-FX) in a Fast Ethernet network. The converter supports half as well as full duplex connections. In the full duplex mode distances of up to 2 km can be covered (single mode: depending on version 15 km to 40 km).

The direct coupling permits the extension of twisted pair connections beyond the limit of 100 m. The link status of the segment is transferred via the converter (‘Link-Through’), i. e. in case of a link failure on the FX-side no link is generated on the TX-side.

3 Port Gigabit Ethernet Media Converter Module

3 Port Gigabit Ethernet Media Converter Module

The new access module allows for three-fold Gigabit Ethernet media conversion (3x 1000Base-T to 1000Base-X) and is based on modular SFP connections. This modular design makes the access module particularly flexible. Here MICROSENS offers a wide range of plug-in optical transceiver modules for multi-mode and single-mode applications.

The Gigabit connections are configured automatically with the auto negotiation protocol with transparent forwarding. An integrated link-through function guarantees additional link transparency for the whole connection. The components connected to the converter detect the whole connection status.

4 Channel Optical Crossbar Rack Module

4 Channel Optical Crossbar Rack Module

The Optical Crossbar module is part of the MICROSENS access platform and offers full 3R signal regeneration bundled with a free configurable crossbar matrix for data rates from 100 Mbps up to 2.7 Gbps. This module enhances the 3R function with the benefits of a flexible switchable crossbar logic. It allows free allocation of four channels – besides the protection of the optical link. In addition to the 1:1 links also 1:n connections for broadcast applications are possible.

Plenty of applications are possible: Twin Converter for point-to-point links with high port density, hardware-redundant configuration, channel protection and signal multiplication (Broadcast).

Pluggable optical transceivers (SFPs) can easily adapt to different requirements of transmission networks.

8 Channel Passive CWDM Mux Demux Access Module

8 Channel Passive CWDM Mux Demux Access Module

By using passive multiplexers, several optical channels of different wavelengths can be combined, which will allow multiple services to the transmitted together via fiber without interference. What makes this possible is the fact that different light colours (wavelengths) do not affect each other. For transmission, light colours are multiplexed onto an fiber using a wavelength-specific filter (multiplexing). At the other (receiving) end of the line, the wavelengths are divided again, or rather, demultiplexed. Hence, any transmission line consists of a multiplexer and a demultiplexer.

The passive multiplexer and demultiplexer modules are working with the CWDM grid according ITU G.694.2 standard. The multiplexer/demultiplexer rack modules are part of a wide product range of functional modules for installation in modular rack systems from MICROSENS. In addition to desktop housings, users can select a 19" chassis with up to 12 slots. When using multi-slot chassis, the converter may be combined with any other modules from the Enterprise Access family. In addition, the MICROSENS product portfolio offers active converters for optical or electrical/optical adaptation of data channels to the appropriate wavelengths and required ranges.

Using WDM as transmission technology, network operators can build an infrastructure that may be expanded depending on need. In addition, the capacities in all sub-areas of the network are expandable. This represents an advantage no other technology can provide. Using passive multiplexers is of interest for cable network operators, too. This technology will allow providing additional services such as combining bi-directional data services with uni-directional TV transmission without any problem, while using the existing infrastructure.

Fast Ethernet 2 Port Multi-function Bridge

Fast Ethernet 2 Port Multi-function Bridge

The bridge enables connection of copper and fiber segments to Ethernet and Fast Ethernet whilst at the same time altering the speed. The new twin bridge achieves a higher port density in the distribution equipment by integrating two bridges per card.

ITU G.703 Fibre Optic Converter

ITU G.703 Fibre Optic Converter

The MICROSENS ITU G.703 Optical Converter enables the full duplex transmission of a 2,048 Mbit/s interface along optical fiber according to the ITU G.703 standard.

As a result of the use of optical fiber it is possible to extend electrical G.703 connections by up to 2 km. The electrical G.703 signals are transmitted transparently on the optical fiber, which means that direction information (e.g. to synchronize the frames) is also transmitted.

The application of optical fiber offers, as well as lower attenuation, the advantage of immunity against disturbances and tapping. This enables furthermore the integration of already existing FO lines.

The converter is constructed in the form of an insertion card, which can be built into the MICROSENS 19" modular system. 12 insertion modules can be mounted into a modular system. If you need a redundant power supply, you only have 10 places left. In case of a partial equipping, the unloaded slots can be masked with blank covers. The MICROSENS ITU G.703 Optical Converter is also available as stand alone version.

Colour coded LEDs display the operating condition of the converter and can be used for error diagnostics.
