Mode Conditioning Patchcord is designed for use in Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-LX solution. This duplex patch cord consists of connectors on each end with a single-mode fibre offset to a multi-mode fibre connection in one of the two ends. It is compliant with the IEEE 802.3z application standard. This patch cord is necessary to allow -LX 1300 nm transceiver modules to be used for Gigabit Ethernet. A mode conditioning patch cord eliminates multiple signals by allowing the single-mode launch to be offset away from the centre of a multi-mode fibre.

Measuring an insertion loss of the near-end and / or far-end connection of a fiber optic link with an OTDR requires a launch and / or receive test cable. A launch cable, which connects the OTDR to the link under test, reveals the insertion loss and reflectance of the near-end connection. A receive cable, which connects to the far-end of the link, reveals the insertion loss and reflectance of the far-end connection. Launch and receive test cables can range from 150 m to 1 km (or longer) in length. Because very long test cables are impractical to transport and use, Noyes offers coiled lengths of 50 mm multi-mode, 62.5 mm multi-mode, or single-mode fibre packaged in compact rings.

Ribbon Cables

Ribbon Cables

The pre-terminated cable is delivered with connectors at one or both sides. The cable is prepared for installation in FOSS FP70 and FP80 panel* - 1 m of the fibre is protected by a spiral cable wrap and may therefore, be placed under the drawer. This simplifies maintenance because it enables you to take the drawer out of the panel (without loosening the fibres from their guides). As an option the connector sides of the cable may be protected with a flexible tube. This is often used if this side needs to be pulled for a long distance. Outside this tube an optional cable pulling grip may be placed if the cable shall be pulled through tubes.
